I want this event in my neighborhood! E-mail us to bring this event to your neighborhood.

As part of our DIY Neighborhood event series, Neighbors Project is partnering with Lakeview residents, community organizations and aldermen to show you how you can host your own block party. The event will be a hands-on fair on partying in the street with your neighbors using the food, furniture, drinks and fun sold in your neighborhood to support local businesses. Everything you need to know to throw your own block party. Get in on the secret to the ultimate summer party. Plus:

  • Cornhole tournament
  • Grilling for Parties 101
  • Lawn chair testing
  • Free food
  • Lots of prizes:
Top quality meat from Paulina Meat Market
Wine and cheese picnic baskets from Pastoral
Scrumptious sweets from Bittersweet
Must-have sidewalk art supplies from Lakeview Art Supply
A day of industrial strength grill rental from Klein True Value Hardware

The Block Party Party will be a launch event for a first-of-its kind web-based guide to throwing a block party in Chicago that we'll debut right here. Anyone visiting the site will be able to share their own block party tips or download concise checklists to guide them through the block party permits and process.

The Block Party Party is in partnership with the Lakeview Citizens Council and the Central Lakeview Merchants Association, with the support of Aldermen Tom Tunney (44th) and Scott Waguespack (32nd), and State Representative John Fritchey (11th). Space and food generously donated by Mystic Celt bar.
