Neighbors Checklist: Renters

Transform a common back yard area into a local garden and throw parties. Invite the whole building, don’t be too loud that you bug your neighbors, but have fun – its contagious and can spread down a block.
Ask your neighbors to borrow the occasional ingredient.
Share your shovel.
Clean your windows – inside and out – and open your shades sometime.
Grill outside, and offer food to your neighbors.
Plant window boxes.
Lock your bike on the street in front of your building.
Put up a sign for a political candidate in your window.
Get to know the seniors in your building, and check on them from time to time to make sure they’re doing well.
Put out a welcome mat.
Repair your bike on the sidewalk.
Help your kids decorate the sidewalk with chalk.
Hold a sidewalk sale.
